| Champdor is situated in the middle of a calcareous plateau whose natural resources have long provided livelihoods to many of its residents. Since ages, the chief agricultural product of the region has been the famous Comté, a cheese from Jura. Forests cover 775 of the 1735 hectares of the district and allow for the development of forestry and a flourishing wood industry. The building of many prestigious monuments since the 19th century has given rise to an significant stone industry. The area also generates power through its hydraulic plants. | |
