Vue intérieure abbayeThe Royal Abbey of Brou

The Royal Abbey of Brou is composed of the church and the monastery. The monastery, built between 1506 and 1512 by Margaret of Austria to accommodate the Augustinian monks charged with praying for the princes interred at Brou, has always been admired for its generous proportions and beauty. This outstanding monastery includes three cloisters with upper and lower galleries, spacious halls, in all more than 4,000 m2 of floor area. Next to the monastery, the church is a gem of the flamboyant Gothic style. Its tombs, reredos, statues and pews make it an outstanding museum of the 16th century Flemish sculpture.
